Engagement rate is interactions divided by followers or reach and what counts as good depends on size. Smaller accounts often run 5 percent and up, while bigger ones sitting at 1 to 3 percent is healthy since rate drops as you grow. To lift it, tighten your niche so the right people follow, write hooks that earn the watch, ask questions that invite comments and reply to everyone. Check your real number with an engagement rate calculator instead of guessing at it.

What the number means

Interactions over followers or reach. It shows how alive your audience is.

Good depends on size

Small accounts run high. 1 to 3 percent is fine once you are large.

Lift it with relevance

A tight niche and strong hooks beat chasing raw follower count every time.

Measure, do not guess

Run your numbers through an engagement rate calculator to see where you sit.

A tight niche fixed my rate more than any trick. Fewer random followers means the ones I have actually care and interact.

Reply to every comment in the first hour. It signals the algorithm and it pulls more comments in. Compounds fast.

Do not panic when rate dips as you grow, that is normal. A 2 percent rate on 200k is worth more than 8 percent on 2k.
