Use both, in order. Gifting is cheap and great for awareness and for testing which creators actually deliver but you cannot demand a post, control timing or claim usage rights. Paid buys you guaranteed deliverables, usage and control. The smart play is a funnel: gift widely, see who performs and genuinely likes the product, then pay the winners for real campaigns. Gifting alone is not a strategy and paying everyone cold is a waste.

Use them as a funnel

Gift to test, pay to scale the winners. They work together, not either-or.

Gift for awareness

Cheap and wide but no guaranteed post, timing or usage. Treat it as a try-out.

Pay for control

Guaranteed deliverables, usage rights and timing. This is where campaigns live.

Pay the proven ones

Move creators who deliver on gifting into paid. Never pay cold.

Gift to find your people, pay to scale them. We seed widely then put budget behind the three creators who actually drove sales.

Remember gifting buys you nothing contractually. No guaranteed post, no usage rights. Treat it as a casting call, not a campaign.

Paying everyone upfront burned our budget early on. Now nobody gets paid until they have proven they can post and convert.
