How do I turn a one-off brand deal into an ongoing partnership or retainer instead of chasing new deals every month?

Long term partnerships come from making the brand look good and making their life easy. Deliver on time, beat the brief once and send them the results before they ask. Then pitch the next idea while the first is still fresh. Most retainers happen because a creator brought the second campaign to the table, not because the brand thought of it. Be the creator they do not have to manage.

Why brands go long term

Hiring creators is work. A reliable one who delivers is worth keeping.

Over-deliver once

Beat the first brief slightly. That single move is what earns the second deal.

Report without being asked

Send a short results recap. Brands renew creators who prove the value.

Pitch the next idea early

Bring campaign two before they go shopping. Ideas keep you on retainer.

My biggest client started as a single post. I sent them a results screenshot a week later with two ideas and they put me on a quarterly deal.

Be easy to work with. I have kept deals just by replying fast and never missing a deadline, even when my content was not the flashiest.

Ask for the renewal. At the end of a deal I literally say I would love to keep going, here is what I would do next. Half say yes.
